JAY McGOVERN, PG #1170
Jay McGovern has been working as a geologist in South Texas since 1982. He is a licensed board-certified geologist with a wealth of experience, having drilled over 380 wells throughout his career. Jay is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of professionals in the oil and gas industry, having personally mentored over 49 individuals to date. His comprehensive training program covers South Texas oil and gas geology, land-work, legal aspects of the industry, and sales, ensuring that each geologist is well-prepared for success.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Jay finds solace and joy in fishing, and he is passionate about inspiring hope and ambition in the future generation of geologists.
Currently, Jay collaborates on prospects with one of his former interns, now turned business partner, Alannah Gonzalez. Together, they continue to pursue opportunities in the industry, leveraging their combined expertise and passion for exploration.
ALANNAH GONZALEZ
Alannah Gonzalez graduated with a BS in Geology from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi in 2016. Following her graduation, she established Ausmex Exploration LLC, a company specializing in leasing projects with McGovco, LTD. Her work has predominantly focused on conventional mapping in various counties including Jim Wells, San Patricio, Nueces, Jim Hogg, Bee, Goliad, Victoria, Kleberg, and Duval Counties. With significant expertise in lease negotiations and identifying WI (Working Interest) partners, Alannah embarked on her drilling journey in January 2017, with the Seidel#1 well in Jim Wells County. This inaugural well proved successful, yielding an initial formation rate of 600 MCFD. Since then, she has personally financed and drilled a total of 19 wells. Her upcoming endeavor involves a 5825’ Frio prospect in Jim Wells County, slated for drilling in the second quarter of 2024.
Alannah enjoys staying active, whether it's hitting the gym or engaging in outdoor activities like fishing, where she often attempts to out fish Jay. She aspires to one day be in a position to mentor and train young individuals, providing them with opportunities to enter the industry, much like Jay has done.
